This document describes the purpose and use of workflows in the InfoEx system.

Background

Workflows can be used to link together tasks that are regularly performed by InfoEx users when viewing InfoEx reports, recording observations, assessing avalanche hazard, and making operational plans.

Workflows are created by

The InfoEx application currently offers a limited number of modules that support some of the key task performed by avalanche safety operations.

Depending on the type of workflow selected, workflows can be used to:
  • Organize and view data by a single user
  • View, organize and share information within an operation
  • View, organize and share information with the InfoEx community by submitting the results of a workflow to the InfoEx server

Workflow templates are created by users with operation administrator privileges or higher.

Details of: Workflow purpose and use

Workflows can be used in two basic ways:

1. To retrieve specified information for viewing.
External Websites: A specified website, or series of websites can be visited in sequence, thereby ensuring workflow users have viewed consistent information.
Custom InfoEx Reports: Workflow users will retrieve specified InfoEx reports that may be customized to view information in regional patterns, subsets of available observations, and specified ordering. See: [Infoex report views].
2. To submit information, in a guided process, that will be available for other users. Users have the option of sharing the information within their operation, or forwarding the information to the infoEx server and hence the entire infoEx community.
Observations: A specified set of observations can be entered as part of a workflow.
Hazard Assessment: A hazard assessment can be performed and it's output submitted to the infoEx server as part of a workflow.
