This document describes the general reporting functionality of InfoEx. Detailed descriptions of how to customize InfoEx reports are included in separate documents that are linked at the bottom of this page.
Background
The report functionality is the central piece of InfoEx. It is this part of the application that allows subscribers to develop a better understanding of the conditions around them.
InfoEx reports can be accessed by clicking on the 'REPORTS' menu. When you log in, the reports section automatically opens and the tabular view of the default report CAA and AC Messages is loaded.
InfoEx allows subscribers to fully customize their reports to fit their information needs and allow them to absorb the information in an efficient manner.
In addition to the Tabular view of the InfoEx report, a Map view and a Chart view are available to visualize the data. The following paragraphs provide a short overview of the functionalities of these report views.
Tabular view
The tabular view is the default view of the InfoEx report. It is the view in which users can fully customize the content and layout of their InfoEx report. The choices made in this view determine what data is shown in the Map and Chart views.
The tabular view of the InfoEx report offers the following options for customizing the content of an InfoEx report:
- Specifying the date or date range of an InfoEx report
- Restricting the locations included in an InfoEx report
- Specifying the tables to be included in an InfoEx report
- Adding or removing columns of individual tables in an InfoEx report
- Applying filters to individual tables in an InfoEx report
The tabular view also offers the following options for customizing the layout of an InfoEx report:
- Specifying the order of the tables in an InfoEx report
- Grouping of observations within tables
- Sorting individual tables in an InfoEx report
- Single page view versus individual tabs for tables
Once the content and layout of an InfoEx report has been specified, users with Operation Administration levels or higher can save the customized InfoEx report as a template for future use for their operation.
- Saving a report as an InfoEx report template
- Modifying an existing InfoEx report template
- Deleting an existing InfoEx report template
These templates are then accessible to all users of your operation in the 'REPORTS' sections of the application. All users can also save customized reports for their personal viewing. In addition, the application contains a number of standard reports that are accessible to all users of the system
The same templates are also accessible through the Report workflow module and all users of your operation can sign up for the nightly email delivery of these reports. The reports can also be viewed and saved in pdf format by using the Save to PDF option.
Map view
Click on Map to access the map view of the Infoex report. This view offers a geospatial perspective of the data included in the tabular view of the InfoEx report.
In addition to specifying the content of the map in the Tabular view, users can also change its content directly by:
- Viewing a specific InfoEx report template
- Specifying the date or date range of an InfoEx report
- Restricting the locations included in an InfoEx report
The map view displays the following layers:
- Operation overview
- Avalanche observations
- Avalanche Hazard
- Snowpack observations
- Field Summary
- Weather observations
- Modelled Surface Hoar Layers
NOTE | The possibilities for additional map view layers are endless and suggestions from InfoEx subscribers are encouraged to develop meaningful map representations of the information exchanged within InfoEx. Please let InfoEx support staff at the CAA know your thoughts. |
Chart view
The intention of the chart view is to provide summary graphs and time series charts of the data included in the tabular view of the InfoEx report.
NOTE | The possibilities for additional charts are endless and suggestions from InfoEx subscribers are encouraged. Please let InfoEx support staff at the CAA know your thoughts. |
